European Patent Attorney; BSc. (Hons.) Biotechnology; Ph.D. Life Sciences (Medicine); MSc. Management of Intellectual Property

Mike is a qualified European Patent Attorney. He graduated from the National University of Ireland, Galway, with an honours degree in Biotechnology. This gave him a broad expertise in the field of life sciences, in particular biotechnology, biochemistry, microbiology and genetics. In his final year he carried out a research project to develop  nucleic acid-based in vitro amplification methods for the clinical diagnosis of Chlamydial infection. Mike completed his doctorate in University College Dublin on the subject of pleiotropic lipoxin receptor agonists and the resolution of inflammation. He added to his academic qualifications with a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies from the Dublin Business School and a MSc. in the Management of Intellectual Property from the University of London.

Prior to joining FRKelly in 2013, Mike spent three years working with a leading London IP practice. Mike has experience in working with clients ranging in size from individual inventors, university spin-out companies to major multinational companies, in various areas of Life Science including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, immunology, virology, microbiology, diagnostic assays and food science technologies.

Mike is a Student Member of the UK Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) and is based in our Dublin Office.
