UKIPO temporarily reducing or abolishing some fees.

The period of “interrupted days”, whereby most deadlines set by the UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO) have been extended, ends on 29th July 2020. As of 29th July 2020 all outstanding and otherwise overdue deadlines will fall due. However, to soften the blow, between 30th July 2020 and 31st March 2021 the UK Intellectual Property Office will reduce, or in many cases abolish, many of its fees for extending deadlines. In particular:

The fee for extension of time (normally £135) will be reduced to zero;
The 25% surcharge for payment of the application fee after the filing date (normally increased from £60 to £75) will be abolished;
The fees for reinstatement of a patent application (normally £150) or restoration of a granted patent (normally £135) will be zero;
For Patents and Designs the surcharge for late payment of a renewal fee will be zero;
For Trade Mark Registrations, the surcharge for late payment of a renewal fee will be reduced to a nominal £1;
The late payment fee for renewal of a Supplementary Protection Certificate (SPC) will be reduced to zero.
