ASSOCIATE
Helen is a Chartered (UK) and European Patent Attorney, and an Irish Patent Agent.
Helen completed an undergraduate degree in Medicinal Chemistry at Trinity College Dublin before moving to London to complete a Masters in Management of Intellectual Property at Queen Mary, University of London. She then took on the role of IP focal point for an international team at a global fuel corporation. During her time there, she conducted a maintenance review of the entire patent portfolio, which involved facilitating discussions between technical experts, members of the legal team, and heads of business for each sector of retail to ensure that patent portfolio was streamlined to be cost-efficient. She also prepared freedom to operate surveys and infringement opinions.
Helen trained at a large international IP firm, where she undertook work for a variety of clients involving a broad range of subject-matter including pharmaceuticals, small molecule chemistry, process chemistry, polymers, dyes, adhesives, and oil and gas. She has a wealth of client-facing experience including one-to-one meetings and hosting seminars with clients ranging from global companies and household brand names to SMEs and Universities.
Helen joined FRKelly in 2022. She is heavily involved in UK and European prosecution work, primarily in the pharmaceutical sector. She is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) in the UK and a member of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (EPI).
