Luke specialises in biotechnological and biomedical inventions. He has experience in patent drafting, filing and prosecution, infringement, patentability, supplementary protection certificates (SPCs), and IP transactions. Luke advises clients ranging from start-up enterprises, individual inventors, universities, and large multinational corporations.
Luke obtained a Ph.D. at Cambridge University (UK) after graduating from Trinity College Dublin with a first class honours degree in Natural Sciences, majoring in Biochemistry with Cell Biology. He has an extensive understanding of the biological sciences, with particular expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, and biotechnology.
Well placed to advise clients in the pharmaceutical industry, Luke worked in both R&D and manufacturing at two multinational “Big Pharma” companies before joining FRKelly. Luke also wrote the Irish chapter of European SPCs Unravelled: A Practitioner’s Guide to Supplementary Protection Certificates in Europe (second edition).
