Luke specialises in biotechnological and biomedical inventions. He has experience in patent drafting, filing and prosecution, infringement, patentability, supplementary protection certificates (SPCs), and IP transactions. Luke advises clients ranging from individual inventors to start-up enterprises, universities, and large multinational corporations.
A PhD at the University of Cambridge gave Luke a strong grounding in a range of molecular biology research methods, and an appreciation of the academic environment.
Luke graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a first class honours degree in Natural Sciences, majoring in Biochemistry with Cell Biology. He has extensive understanding of the biological sciences, with particular expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, and biotechnology.
Well placed to advise clients in the pharmaceutical industry, Luke worked in both R&D and manufacturing at two multinational “Big Pharma” companies before joining FRKelly.
Luke is a member of the Association of Patent and Trademark Attorneys in Ireland (APTMA). He is based in our Dublin office.
