Roisin is a European Patent Attorney and a European Trade Mark and Design Attorney. She is also a registered US Patent Agent and qualified as a Patent Agent in Ireland and a Patent Attorney in the UK. She has considerable experience in general Intellectual Property practice (Patents, Trade Marks and Designs), including broad experience in international strategic protection and patent portfolio development, management and commercialisation.
Roisin joined FRKelly in 2016. She handles biotech and medical device subject matter and specializes in prosecution in Europe and the US. She has attended numerous oral proceedings in examination, opposition and appeals at the EPO and has also supported litigation in the US and UK, working closely with US and UK litigation attorneys. Prior to joining FRKelly she worked in both private practice and in-house positions in the UK and US.
Roisin received a B.Sc. Joint Honours degree in Biochemistry and Genetics (1986) and a Ph.D. in Microbiology (1990), both from Queens University Belfast. She also carried out post-doctoral research in Biochemistry in Trinity College Dublin before entering the patent profession.
Roisin completed a 3 year term as an editor of the AIPLA (American Intellectual Property Lawyers Association) Quarterly Journal and served on the membership committee of AUTM (Association of University Technology Managers). She has a particular interest in technology transfer, strategic prosecution and commercialization of IP.
