The EUIPO has recently issued an alert advising that there have been misleading payment requests being made from fraudulent companies pretending to be the EUIPO. The scam has been taking place over the past few weeks and looks quite genuine, as it includes the EUIPO name, logo and letterhead.
The EUIPO has confirmed that they never send invoices or letters requesting payment for services to users. They have published a list of fraudulent invoices and advise anyone who receives a fraudulent invoice to report it to them by mailing this address firstname.lastname@example.org.
We hope none of our clients have been affected by this scam, which is occurring at such a sensitive time.
